RISK MANAGEMENT PROCESS

Ramboll is the leading provider of risk management consultancy in Denmark and provides risk management services on projects all over the World. Our references cover a broad range of activities from specialized advanced risk analyses, to the development and implementation of overall risk management systems. RamRisk is developed on the basis of our extensive experience in the industry, and we are continuously improving and adding new features based on customer wishes. Below you can read about an excellent six-steps risk management process, which can be fully supported by RamRisk.

Identification of risk basis and purpose
Identification of risk basis and purpose

First step involves analysis and clarification of the required scope of risk management. Only simple risk screenings may be required for smaller projects, whereas an actual risk management process is required for larger projects, with follow-ups and regular reporting during the project. No matter if the project is small or large, RamRisk will support you in the process in an easy way.

Planning the risk management process
Planning the risk management process

The planning involves development of an actual risk management plan. The plan is based on an analysis of the risk basis and includes the identified risk targets, calibrated risk matrices and possibly acceptance criteria. It describes, furthermore, who is going to do what and when, in relation to the risk management process. RamRisk is the perfect companion because of its flexibility that makes it possible to use RamRisk in the usual context and way you prefer.

Risk identification workshop
Risk identification workshop

Facilitation of workshops for the identification of risks and controls, in relation to phase changes in the project, is a central part of any risk management process. Workshops can be carried out in many ways. With RamRisk, which is directly applicable in the execution of the workshops you will make the process less time consuming and more efficient. Group work may optimize the process, while the groups and participants may work in parallel with the tool. During the risk workshop, risks are organized and a risk owner is identified - this is easily handled in RamRisk.

Review of risks with the risk owners
Review of risks with the risk owners

After appointment of risk owners, an initial follow-up is performed in order to evaluate the risks with respect to the relevant risk targets, identify controls, including appointment of persons responsible for the implementation of the measure and making agreements regarding their deadlines. At subsequent meetings, the status of the risks, controls and risk evaluations are reviewed

On-going
On-going identification of risks and controls

New risks will emerge during the project, and it is therefore important to ensure that they are handled in an appropriate manner as part of the risk management process. New risks can and should be identified by all project members – and it is important that project management and the risk manager are aware of this. RamRisk supports dialogue and interaction in a potentially de-central manner, which makes it easy for all project members to contribute by e.g. adding new risks as the project progresses. Going forward, issuing responsibilities and tracing back changes in the risk register are conveniently handled by RamRisk to always stay focused on future risks.

Risk status report
Risk status report

Risk status reports will be prepared regularly (usually on a monthly basis), that summarise the status of the project risks. The report gives an overview of the current events related to the project, and how they have affected the risk level. Key activities for the coming period are furthermore highlighted
